Valentine’s Day is titled after the Catholic Clergyman, named Saint Valentine who resided in Rome in the third century. There are many stories which revolve around Saint Valentine, which grew over the period of time and developed him into a legend.
During that period, many religious conversions were taking place for Romans to practice Christianity. But, Emperor Claudius II was a pagan and hence, firm laws were made about Christian’s code of conduct and course of actions.
Claudius II believed Roman Soldiers should completely be devoted for the nation and hence, passed a law averting them to marry. Saint Valentine was not in the favour and started helping couples to marry secretly. And gradually, Saint Valentine started developing a reputation as Believer and Follower of Love.
